Is this course nationally recognised?

Yes. CBD College is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 91399) and is approved by SafeWork NSW. You receive a nationally recognised statement of attainment for CPCWHS1001 on completion.

How long does the White Card course take?

It is a single face to face day, running 8:30am to 4:00pm. Your Statement of Attainment is issued on the day on successful completion (or within 7 days if same day assessment is not possible).

How much does it cost?

$119, which includes use of all PPE in the classroom. There are no extra charges for materials or for the assessment.

Do I need any prior experience or qualifications?

No. There are no entry requirements and the course covers everything from scratch. You do need good spoken and written English to complete the assessments.

Do I need to do any pre-learning?

No. There is no online pre-learning and no videos to upload. Everything is completed in the classroom on the day.

Do I need a USI?

Yes. A Unique Student Identifier is required before a nationally recognised certificate can be issued. It is free to create at usi.gov.au and takes a few minutes.

What ID do I need to bring?

You need 100 points of identification including a photo, your full name, date of birth, signature and current residential address. For example a passport (70) plus a bank statement (25) plus a Medicare card (25); or an Australian driver licence (40) plus a bank card (25) plus a phone account (25) plus a bank statement (25). Documents must be original and Australian issued, with the exception of passports. Non Australian licences are only accepted if you have been in the country less than 6 weeks.

Can international students and visa holders get a White Card?

Yes. International students, working holiday visa holders and new migrants of any visa type are welcome. If you have been in Australia less than 6 weeks you are exempt from the 100 point ID rule, so just bring your passport, one other form of ID and proof of your arrival date. Strong spoken and written English is essential, as interpreters are not permitted during assessment.

How am I assessed?

Through practical tasks, written and oral questions, document review and role plays. Everything is completed and marked in class on the day.

Do I need to bring PPE?

No. We provide all PPE for the practical assessment, including a hard hat, safety goggles, high visibility vest and earmuffs. Just wear comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes.

When do I get my White Card?

Your CPCWHS1001 Statement of Attainment and WorkSafe Statement of Training are issued the same day you finish the course, so you can start work on site immediately. Your physical plastic White Card is then mailed to you by SafeWork NSW, which usually takes 2 to 4 weeks.

Does the White Card expire?

No. Your White Card does not have an expiry date. However, if you leave the construction industry for more than 2 consecutive years, you will need to complete the course again before returning to site work.

Is the White Card valid in other states?

Yes. The White Card is nationally recognised. Once issued it is valid for construction work anywhere in Australia.

Where is the course held?

At Level 5, 8 Quay Street, Haymarket NSW 2000, in the Prince Centre next to Central Station and a short walk from Railway Square. There are paid parking stations nearby. Reception at Quay Street is open 8am to 5pm on weekdays.

How do I book a place?

Use the course dates page to choose your date, then enrol and pay online to secure your spot. Classes run every weekday.

Can you train my team or workplace?

Yes. We run group and onsite bookings. Call 1300 616 218 to arrange one.

What is the cancellation policy?

We cannot offer refunds for no shows or cancellations after booking, but you can change your class date free of charge as long as the change is made more than 48 hours before your booked class.
